A duplicitous, two-hearted, and dreamy unit led by Esu. Their nickname is "Spri." Despite having just made their debut, they specialize in performances characterized by concepts. Etymology

Special for Princess!'s nickname in Japanese is エスプリ, esupuri, which is officially romanized to "Spri," an abbreviation of the "S" from "Special" and "pri" from "Princess." It has also been romanized as "Esupuri" on their official X (formerly Twitter>) account; "Esu" being the katakana pronunciation of "S," and "puri" being the shortened version of the katakana writing of princess, read as "purinsesu." It has also been written as "espri" on TikTok when viewing the sounds used in the official Ensemble Stars page's videos.

Special for Princess!'s logo consists of the words "Special for Princess!" in a serif font stylized like ribbons, with the exception for the word "for," which is written in a typewriter style serif font. The letters "S" in the word "Special," as well as the "n," and the second "s" in the word "Princess" are split, with some of the letter being colored a dark plum color and the rest with the unit color of pastel pink. The letters "ci" in the word "Special" and the exclamation mark after the word "Princess" are colored in solid dark plum. The letters "a," "o" and "r" in the word "Princess" are split in the same manner as the previous letters, but in pastel purple and pastel pink. The letters "r" in the word "for," "e" in the word "Special" and the first letter "s" in "Princess" are colored in solid pastel purple. The letter "f" is the only one colored in solid pastel pink. The rest of the letters are split between all three colors, with the edges of the letters being pastel pink and the rest of the letter spilt between pastel purple and dark plum. The superscript dot of the letter "i" in "Special" is shaped like a four petal flower and colored in pastel yellow with a dark plum outline. The words "Special for Princess!" are lined vertically on top of two connected ovals colored in white and with a purple gray outline, then a pastel purple outline on the top part and a lighter pastel purple for the rest. Located above the words "Special for Princess!" is the head of a unicorn colored in solid pastel purple, except for the mane and the horn, which are a light pastel purple. Located at the top of the purple gray outline are four four-pointed stars colored in white. Below the top left part of the oval's pastel purple outline is a small line in pastel yellow.

Spri's members were called to a meeting room by Nice, who then informed the four of them that they would be forming a unit together on June 3rd ES!! year 2, and had their in-universe debut within the same month.

Trivia

• For more information on the in-game campaign commemorating their debut, see Special for Princess! Debut Campaign.
• Upon debuting in Special for Princess!, the unit members changed their signatures.
• According to the April 2025 Creator's Interview, Youhei Matsui states that the black and white hearts seen in their songs represent the unit's duplicitous nature; the songs with the white hearts (♡) representing their pure love, and the songs with the black hearts (♥) representing their twisted love. However, it's stated that it's hasn't been decided at the time if they want to retain the naming convention for all of their songs.
