Hello! Thanks for the welcome, recently started the game and love it so I figured I would help out with translations and such.
I had a quick question. I just unlocked all of the stories for the Amusement Park and was interested in translating it if nobody was working on it currently, but I'm really new to wikia in general and how to do things on it. It seems that there isn't a dedicated page for the Amusement Park stories yet, so I was wondering if you could help me navigate around? I've gotten most of the editing part down for pages that already exist, but I'm not sure how to format or create a new dedicated page.
Thank you for joining the wiki I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the game! ^^
The translators usually have their own websites (tumblr, blogspot, google docs etc.) where they post their translations. But you can also directly add your translations by making new pages on the wiki for the stories.
To create new pages, you'll see a "contribute"-button on the top right corner. To create a page, you click on "Add a page" and you'll see a popup where you decide the name of the page you want to make. For event stories, the story title is used for the pages. If you click edit on any of the current existant story pages, then on source you will see the template and how they're set up.
I'll try to explain this in the most non-confusing way as possible, but please pardon me if it somehow gets confusing as I'm really bad at explaining >.<
As an example we have the Agent scout's main page which is named like this -> Christmas Eve's Secret Directive, the chapters of the story are on separate pages which are made by adding /Chapter <Insert number> behind the main page's url.
Chapter 1 of this story's page is named Christmas Eve's Secret Directive/Chapter 1, this is where you add your translations. The template can be found on any other story pages. At the main page of the story, just follow the template for main pages. Follow them and you won't mess up, and even if you happen to name a page wrong, contact any admins and we will rename it for you ^^
I don't believe there's anyone out there interested in translating the Amusement Park story right now, so feel free to go ahead and translate it! Though if you'd really like to check just to make sure, you're free to ask any of the other translators. (Full list found here Story)
This was a really long-winded reply and I apologize in advance if it's totally impossible to understand. I'll ask another admin to give a better explanation if that is the case.
If there's anything else you'd like help on, feel free to ask anytime! ^^
Thank you very much for the in-depth reply! That should be enough to get me started. :)
Are there any ground rules/etiquette I should be aware of in the wiki, specifically of fixing/adding onto finished translations? I don't think I've come across any on this wiki so far, but I have in the past noticed wrong translations in things such as subtitles in anime/other translations and they do tend to bother me a little bit. Should I contact the original author and let them know, or is it okay if I just fix it on my own?
Thanks again, just don't want to mess up other people's work!
Hmn, for the story translations you post, feel free to credit yourself with the translations like all the other story pages.
I dont believe there should be anything wrong with changing anything on the wiki, as long as the correction makes sense and doesn't make anything sound awkward. If you happen to find anything, i think it should also be mentioned to the original translator as well.
Thanks! I'll be sure to let the translator know first if I do happen to come across something.
Sorry for all these questions, but just another quick one; I was going to upload a couple of missing screenshots for some pages, but I seem to be having some issues. I just keep getting an unknown error and preventing me from uploading anything. Any idea what I should do to fix it?
Thanks again to the both of you guys for chiming in, it helps a lot since I'm a complete newb at this, hahah. xD
Hmm, I'm not sure. Are you uploading by phone or computer? I suggest you try again and if it gives you the same error then wait a while before trying again. In case that doesn't work, contact the wikia staff ^^
It might be that the File type doesn't match the destination. For example, most of the missing screenshots are set at .png. If you're files are .jpg, then that might be the reason why you're receiving the error. All you need to do is edit the page directly and change .png to .jpg, if this is the problem
Thanks guys, for some reason the picture was getting messed up somehow when I resaved the screencap with the Android bar cropped out. I just ended up changing the format to JPG and it uploaded successfully. Thanks for all the help!
