Mashu has a cheerful and sociable personality. He has a background in the circus and makes good use of his agility and dexterity. He is the lead dancer of MELLOW DEAR US and oversees dance.[1]

ChitoseUmm, are you sure it's okay for me to talk about Mashu? We're close in age, and during our off time we hang out a lot I guess. He's a thoughtful, put together...and cunning(?) kind of guy! Whenever Mashu is around, the mood instantly brightens up, and he's the kind of person who can befriend anyone, so I'm a bit jealous. I could learn a thing or two from that side of him♪[1]

Mashu is a self-described "old man" who possesses a laid-back personality. He hasn't been a member of the unit for long, only recently joining the group.
In order to maintain peace in the group, he reads the room and acts as a mediator between the members.[2]

He is described by Juis to be dependable.[3] He has pride in his unique upbringing and likes to brag.[4]
His persona for work and how he acts in his private life are strikingly different.
Etymology[]
His surname, Kuon, contains the character for "long time" (久) and the character for "distant" (遠), and can be read as "eternity" (久遠, kuon). His first name, Mashu, contains the character for "dance" (舞) and the character for "bead" or "jewel" (珠).

Both of Mashu's parents worked in the circus. His father was a clown, and his mother had physically unusual disfigurements. He describes his parents as very ordinary. He considers it natural for himself to have the desire to be a member of a circus troupe since his parents were, but he also genuinely wanted to join the troupe and make people happy like his father did, as well as like his mother who was always smiling even if she was looked at strangely.[4]
