Experienced as a child model, his posing technique and ability to judge his surroundings are unmatched. He is easy-going and lively. Glasses are where his charm lies. Makoto is knowledgeable about games and machines and wants to make good use of these advanced fields of his. He sings with a soft and amiable voice, and his performances are delicate yet expansive.
Makoto is a member of Trickstar at STARMARKER PRODUCTION. He has confidence in himself and is pursuing his dream of how to ascend higher as an idol. He's currently looking for ways to ride trends through social media and online distribution.[2]
I'm Trickstar's Makoto Yuuki, from STAR PRO♪ I used to be a child model, so I guess you can say I've got a relatively long history in the entertainment industry? I'm in charge of updating Trickstar's social media accounts and their streams, so there are probably a lot of people that know who I am. Oh, and I work hard every day as an idol too, of course! Hidaka-kun, Akehoshi-kun, Isara-kun... I hope we can deliver smiles to everyone alongside these friends that I walk side by side with♪[2]
MaoMakoto's kinda like Trickstar's conscience~ And when he takes off his glasses, he's a real looker! He's a hard worker and has a lot of determination. I pai up with him a lot when we were do foundational training, and that guy always notices immediately if I'm not feeling 100%. He gives me advice whenever I find myself in a slump too. I guess you could say he's got a keen eye, and I really respect that aspect of him![2]
Appearance
Makoto is of average height and has green eyes. He has short, dark blonde hair that is parted from the right. He wears blue rimmed glasses.
On stage, Makoto wears Trickstar's uniform, which includes a blue plaid jacket worn over a white shirt and black pants. The jacket’s sleeves are rolled up to three-quarter length, revealing black cuffs with a golden stripe. The lapels as well as the collar and shoulders of the jacket are black, detailed with golden trimming on the edges. Golden tassels fall from his right shoulder. On his left, golden bands connect his shoulder to a four-pointed star on his lapel. He wears a green belt, with the end of it falling over as it has not been properly tucked into a belt loop. A blue bandana hangs from his belt and drapes down at his right side. It has a black stripe along the bottom and is dotted with tiny silver sparkles. Over that, a golden beaded chain rests on his hips. An outlined star design is attached to the chain as it hangs on his right side. A thick blue stripe runs along the sides of his pant legs, with the ends being cropped right above his ankles. His sneakers are black and grey with blue detailing, including a Velcro strap over his green laces. Makoto wears a black fingerless glove on his left hand and green and white bangles on his left. He also wears a gold necklace of a four-pointed star— a reference to the four members of Trickstar.
On warmer days, his casual outfit consists of a beige short-sleeved button-down shirt with dark teal skinny jeans. The shirt has black buttons; however, he only fastens the top two buttons of this shirt, revealing a white T-shirt underneath. The outer-shirt also has a pocket on the left side of the chest, where it is detailed with a black horizontal stripe. Makoto has a strap keychain attached to his front left belt loop, which is white with a red stripe down the center. He wears white high-top sneakers and a wristwatch on his left hand.
On colder days, his casual outfit consists of a dark green hoodie beneath a tri-colored jacket. The jacket is grey on the top, white in the middle, and navy blue at the bottom. A thin grey and thick crimson stripe divide the white and navy segments on the sleeves. The shoulders and collar of the jacket are navy, and a crimson vertical stripe follows the collar down to about mid-chest level, outlined by thin navy lines. The jacket also has two crimson drawstrings at the bottom and a crimson zipper pocket on either side. Makoto wears this with a tan belt and white pants that are just slightly folded up at the bottom. His sneakers are white with red accents and black laces.

He wears the school uniform with the top button of his white shirt undone. Beneath his open blazer, Makoto also wears a dark blue cardigan with red and cream-colored designs on the front. He also wears a blue tie and dull light brown sneakers. His shoes have light yellow accents, a light-yellow circular design on the heel, and beige laces.
On stage, Makoto wears Trickstar's uniform, which includes a blue plaid jacket worn over a white V-neck shirt and matching blue plaid pants. The jacket’s sleeves are rolled up to his elbows, revealing white cuffs. The lapels as well as the sides and shoulders of the jacket are black, detailed with four tiny golden stars on the edge of the left lapel and golden trimming on the shoulders. He wears a green strap with a white stripe attached to the left side of his green belt. A black bandana is tied around his waist and drapes down at his right side. It has a white stripe along the bottom and is dotted with tiny silver sparkles. Over that, multiple thin golden bands rest on his hips, one which has an outlined star design attached to the right side. His pants is rolled up a bit above his ankles, revealing a white cuff similar to his jacket. He wears green sneakers with white laces. The outside of the shoes features a star motif with the name "Trickstar" embroidered underneath it. He wears a green wristband on each of his wrists. Makoto also wears a gold necklace featuring an abstract design which may be interpreted as a combination of the letters "T" and "S" (from Trickstar), with a star cut out in the middle.
In the previous school year— Makoto’s first year—, he wore black rimmed glasses rather than blue.
Personality
A former model, Makoto is a newbie to the idol industry who takes a lot of comfort in Trickstar. Makoto takes pride in being the "funny guy" (boke) in Trickstar's comedy skits, however this doesn't actually correspond to his actual role in their dynamic, as he is more of a "straight guy" (tsukkomi)[3][4].
Makoto's hobby is gaming. He enjoys simple playstyles, and appreciates any game as long as he feels accomplished[5].
Although still extremely skilled at modeling, his experience in the modeling industry has weighed down on him to the point he swore to never model again. He developed a severe fear of cameras, which causes him to freeze and become unable to convey a proper expression when a camera is pointed at him. During his first year at Yumenosaki, the sight of one was enough to cause him to scream[6]. With his friends' support, he has gradually grown more accustomed to them. This trauma stems from his time as a model, but it is unclear how it developed specifically.
He opened back up by enrolling in Yumenosaki after deciding to make use of his modeling skills as an idol instead. He believed becoming an idol would have less pressure and be more manageable than returning to modeling. Due to his lack of practical skills, he makes use of his knowledge of the entertainment world. However, he is often insecure about his lack of talent as an idol, compared to his natural talent as a model. Despite this, he has no intention to return to being a model, as he truly loves being an idol. Makoto is also good with computers and at gaming.
His time with Trickstar allowed Makoto to slowly rebuild his confidence. By pushing himself to train hard and develop in the areas he lacked in, he felt more and more at home in Trickstar. As he grew, he developed a stronger self-awareness that allowed him to find closure with both Izumi and the modeling industry.
In Summer Live, he reveals for the first time that his biggest strength is that he’s willing to do whatever he has to do to get by[7]. However, this strength is achieved by shutting off his personal feelings in order to do what has to be done, no matter how painful it may be. During inescapable situations, Makoto ends up shutting down his emotions to get the job done, and does it well. This is shaped by his negative experience in the modeling industry, which would put his work and obligations before his personal feelings, and his own personal sense of perfection and professionalism.
Rei once says this to Makoto;, “You are no good at all. (…) You have a sparkle, as well, but you are throwing that away yourself. (…) You are afraid. You hesitate to show yourself. What could it be that has you so frightened?”[8]
Before the Trickstar and Knights joint live, Makoto comes to the realization that much of his self-doubt and hatred has stemmed from Izumi’s blunt treatment of him, often insulting his identity as an idol in order to coerce him back into the modeling industry. Although he had stood up for himself many times in the past and has made settlements with Izumi[9], it wasn’t until then he had properly demanded Izumi to treat him as an equal, and treat him for who he is[10].
Etymology
Makoto's first name means "truth" or "genuineness," "seriousness." His last name is homophonous with the word 勇気, which means "courage."

Commentary
Voice Actor Comments
"Yuuki-kun is a boy who, despite having experiences in the entertainment world, still has a long way to go. Please make him into a top-class idol!" (Enstars!)[22]
"I am looking forward to seeing what this new chapter has in store for us!! Please continue to support Trickstar, as well as Ensemble Stars!!!" (Enstars!!)[23]
"Again, I really feel that Makoto-kun truly is a straightforward boy.
He still lacks self-confidence quite a bit, but that modesty of his is one of his charms.
I believe what within this work's story, events will occur that will have a big impact on his future." (Road to Show Comment)[24]
Voice Actor Interviews
Main Scenario Writer's Comments
"This kid was used as a base for the character references, so in the reference materials he's dressed in all sorts of outfits, it's really what you'd expect from a former model, huh (?). That being said, there's either people in the company who adore the idea of characters who "become beautiful when you take off their glasses", or there's some people who have a strong hatred for glasses." —Akira (Character VA Pre-release)[25]
"Because the portraits in Enstars are a tad special, there are restrictions, meaning outfits can't be released as freely as they are in EnGirls. On the other hand, the existing outfits and accessories can be equipped by any character, so you can enjoy the game by making all the different kids try on this kid's glasses (*how to enjoy this game varies from person to person)" —Akira (Character Visual Pre-release)[26]
[T/N: This is not true. It is unclear whether this is a misunderstanding on Akira's part, or a game mechanic that was removed prior to release.]
"He's a rare underclassman in Ensemble Stars! who has distinctly experienced failure, which made him relatively difficult to handle. Overcoming past failures, growing → succeeding! sounds easy enough, but in cases like this, there's often a lingering reluctance due to past glories... For better or for worse, it all became strangely realistic, huh." —Akira (Official Works, Artbook)[27]
