Madara Mikejima |
---|
Overview[]
Madara has a mother, father, and a younger sister named Maguro. His mother is a member of society's underbelly, and his father a corrupt police chief; the combination of both making them immensely influential and dangerous. Madara has a poor relationship with the entirety of his family, describing them to be enemies, apart from the fact they're blood-related. Madara describes the house he grew up in as akin to yakuza headquarters, and finds it a very unpleasant place to be in.
Madara had a mentor figure growing up (referred to as his shishou) who is the one who taught him many techniques he knows. His mentor may be much older than him, since he remarks they threw out their back.[1]

Parents[]
Both Madara's parents are members of the Shinkai religious group that worships Kanata as a god, and, as consequence, both the police and society's underbelly act as the Shinkai household's servants.[2]
- In the past, Madara described his relationship with his parents as poor, as he was, in his own words, a "problem child" among the religious group his parents so ardently revered.[2]
- Madara used to rely on his parents’ connections to fly around the world for jobs. Now that he’s at least partially disowned, he stays in Starmony dorms and takes jobs under his own name. One of his screen dialogues has him saying that it is unbecoming to keep depending on his parents for jobs, and that is why he has to work harder to build up connections of his own.
Mother[]
She is a member of the underbelly of society; Kaoru speculates she is an ex-yakuza member.[3]
Appearance[]
Trivia[]
In Submarine, we learn that Chiaki has spoken with Madara’s mother in a bookshop before, and invited her to rest in his home when her legs were tired. She gave Chiaki a secure communication line which cannot be hacked.

Father[]
Madara's father is a police chief.[3][4] He has committed a multitude of corrupt misdeeds. Madara has attempted to expose his father by supplying evidence to a good-hearted rival police officer as a way to escape his father's influence, but it is unclear how this went.[5]
