Izumi works as a model in Europe, while also traveling between Europe and Japan for idol activities. Though slightly fastidious, he has a fussy, caring side towards the people he trusts. His singing is smooth and resonant, and his performances are modern and stylish.
Izumi is a member of Knights at NEW DIMENSION. He is taking up various forms of training in order to become recognized worldwide as a model, and at the same, make a breakthrough as an idol.[3]

Tsukasa瀬名先輩は自他ともに厳しいひとですね。一緒にLessonをしているときなどは、そのStoicさには気が引き締まる思いです。ご自身の夢や目標に向かって進んでいく姿は、私たち『Knights』にも大いに影響を与えていると言えるでしょう。弱っている姿を滅多に見せず、いつどんなときでも自分を貫く瀬名先輩にすこし似てきた自分がいたりして……。いずれにせよ、尊敬できる先輩のひとりですね[3]
Appearance
Izumi has fashionably tousled silver hair,[4] light blue eyes and a fair complexion.
On stage as one of Knights, Izumi wears a blue, gold, black, and white jacket with a cape and ruffled tailcoat over a white shirt with a detailed blue collar and black zipper, both accented with gold. The jacket has black epaulettes accented with gold. A silver fleur de lis symbol attached to a light blue banner with gold and dark blue accents is pinned to the jacket's chest. There are two thin golden ropes attached to it, stretching across the front of the jacket and linking to the right shoulder pad. Three more golden ropes are attached to each side of the jacket where there would normally be buttons, but they are are decorative and are tied into a flower pattern. He wears a black glove with an opening near the wrist on his right hand, with a gold bracelet on his left. He wears dark gray pants with vertical light stripes and a thick belt that is accented with four golden buttons with a golden stripe on each side. The pants have small pockets accented with a golden top and button, and the belt has two strings of golden beads attached. His shoes are white with gold and black accents with a dip around the ankles.

Over the shirt, he wears a brown vest with one row of buttons and two front pockets. He wears his school blazer unbuttoned, gray plaid pants, and brown dress shoes.
On stage as one of the Knights, Izumi wears a navy blue, white, and gold jacket resembling a royal military uniform over a black shirt which is left unbuttoned at the collar. Over the shirt, he wears a brown belt with a golden buckle. He wears one black fingerless glove on his right hand. On his left hand, Izumi wears two thin gold bracelets. On the jacket, there are four thin golden ropes attached to the collar, two connecting to the right shoulder pad and the back of the jacket while the other two are left hanging with knots in the front of the jacket. There are also two golden ropes which hang from the bottom left of the front to the back of the jacket. There is a navy blue and white stripe patterned sash connecting from his left shoulder pad to the bottom right of his jacket. He wears black shoes with a golden pattern and laces and a pair of navy blue striped pants.
Personality
He has a rude attitude towards most people he meets, being overly harsh in his criticisms and quick to point out their flaws. Despite this, he is quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it, although begrudgingly. He never seems to ignore the struggles of other people, especially his underclassmen, who he wants to guide and take care of despite his harsh and grumpy personality. His harshness is often interlaced with an overbearing fussiness and perfectionism that renders him unable to sit back and watch while others fail.
Contrary to his claims, Izumi treasures his unit to an unimaginable extent, always working hard to make up for his wrongdoings during DDD and pushing himself to be better. He is a very hard-working person, believing he can achieve his goals with effort alone, and never relying on things such as raw talent or religious faith.
It is often pointed out by his unit members Ritsu and Arashi that Izumi harbors no ill intent, claiming his insults are a way he sees to hide the fact that his pride and confidence are a bluff to cover his own struggles and insecurities, as he doesn't like to seem vulnerable to other people.
Etymology
Izumi's first name (泉) means "water spring." The first character in his last name (瀬) means "shoal." These are perhaps related to his preference for small, cool bodies of water, such as natural springs.

Izumi is an only child. He and his parents are close, and he sometimes goes on vacations with them overseas.[5] His family was very protective while he was a kid, and were described to be helicopter parents who treated him like a doll.[6]
Trivia
- Izumi's autograph consists of only his first name, rendered in Roman letters.
- Izumi often nicknames other people he is close to, such as "Yuu-kun" for Makoto Yuuki or "Kasa-kun" for Tsukasa Suou.
- When he first asked Ritsu's name during the events of Checkmate, Ritsu reluctantly replies "...kuma Ritsu" due to the fact he doesn't want to be associated with Rei Sakuma, his older brother. Izumi didn't hear the name clearly, but went ahead and called him "Kuma-kun" anyways. To this day, he still uses that nickname.
- He shares the same birthday with Rei Sakuma, November 2nd.
- Akira, the main writer of Ensemble Stars, stated in early 2015 that, although he was commissioned to write a "tsundere" type for Izumi's character, he ended up being "yandere."[7]
- He is bad with heat and often complains when he is exposed to hot weather,[8][9] but he isn't particularly fond of the cold either.[10]
- Izumi is known for saying "soo~ annoying" as a catchphrase, most notably when inconvenienced or embarrassed. A total of 57 times had been counted across 331 story episodes alone.[11]
- He did ballet as a kid.[12]
- Though it started out as simply something his parents wanted him to do, even hating it at first as he was always sore, he ended up putting his all into practicing due to his competitive nature and, over time, learned to love it himself after experiencing praise and success. He cites the smiles and applause from his first recital as when he fell in love with performing on stage, and making an audience happy as one of the foremost reasons he continued dancing and is an idol today.[13] His favorite ballet move is the "fouetté."[14]
- The scent of alcohol makes him feel sick.[15]
- He has a motorcycle license and would use it to get to Yumenosaki during his school days. He sometimes offers others a ride.[16][17]
- If the engine is of low displacement (below 400cc), it falls under the category of an ordinary motorcycle license that is attainable in Japan at the age of 16. Though it has yet to be specified when Izumi obtained his license, he was habitually riding one by his third year of high school. In the Test of Courage card, Izumi is pictured holding a key closely resembling that of the Yamaha brand.
- His favorite place to take his motorcycle out is a hill with a beautiful view. He mentions that he often goes alone, and that there may not be much to see, but he can stargaze when the sky is clear.[2][18] In a later comment on the subject, Izumi says that Florence has plenty of nice places as well.[19]
- He can knit.[20] Examples of his work include:
- A scarf for Makoto, which can be seen in his Star Festival card, and in Makoto's Winter Live card.
- A dinosaur plush toy for Tsukasa,[21] which can be seen in Tsukasa's Star Festival card.
- A hat with a pompom for Anzu.[22]
- Izumi is often nicknamed "mom" or "sister-in-law" by his close friends to poke fun of the exaggerated way he worries about others, his mother-like nagging being the most remarkable part of it.[23]
- Izumi has claimed to not care about gender or anything "typical of boys" since he was a kid. He goes on to add that he knows this is a serious topic for Arashi, but for him, "beauty transcends everything."[24]
- Sora described his color as "A very kind color, Sora's favorite,[25] and as "silver, in both character and color."[24]
- In addition to Japanese, he can speak Italian, as well as the basics of French and English.[26]
