If only judged by his appearance, Hajime can easily be mistaken as a girl, but he is pretty strong. He is composed and selfless, but sometimes he's also a little pessimistic. Hajime delivers low-profile yet delicate performances with a singing voice like a demure maid.

I'm Hajime Shino from Rhythm Link and the unit Ra*bits. I'm still pretty inexperienced, but I'll do my best to convey Ra*bits' charm through my singing and dancing. TomoyaHajime's a close friend of mine from childhood. He's only been getting cuter lately, to the point where my heart would skip a beat at times... I'm glad Hajime's been getting popular individually lately, and not just with us as Ra*bits. He's really caring and has a calming presence when speaking. I think everyone would also fall in love with Hajime the moment they chat with him...♪[3]
Ensemble Stars! Introduction
Hajime is the dedicated type who does part-time jobs at school to support his unit, Ra*bits, even taking on odd jobs like laundry and such. Taking care of flowers is a part of his daily routine, and he often takes the initiative to prepare the drinks in the tea club. He has trouble making eye contact while conversing with people he just met.
Due to his social anxiety, he carries a lavender aromatic pouch around as a protective charm. He has a mild case of paranoia. His singing voice is really beautiful. He is good friends with his classmates Tomoya Mashiro and Tetora Nagumo. He comes from a poor family. He's also prone to day-dreaming.
Appearance
Hajime is a slightly shorter than average boy with an average build. He has chin length light blue hair, cut in a straight line above his jawline. He has light lilac colored eyes. He wears the school's uniform neatly with the jacket completely done up.
On stage as a member of Ra*bits, Hajime wears a light blue and white shirt with a white collar. The sides of his shirt is light blue with white in the middle. The collar is accented with yellow and there is a white and blue outline. Between the collars, there are two blue lines with a blue flower beneath them. He wears a red tie, with a circular gold buckle at the top. His shirt has six blue buttons, and on the right of his shirt, there is a blue rosette accented with light blue and white. The ribbons of the rosette are light blue, and in the rosette is a golden music note. Hajime’s sleeve cuffs are dark blue and accented with white. He wears a red, white, and blue belt with a golden buckle on top of his shirt. Attached to the belt is a golden chain with a white pompom ball, a golden rabbit charm, and a golden flower charm. His pants are blue. He wears brown boots with golden shoelaces. His boots have dark brown parts on the side and on the tip of his boots. Hajime wears a light blue hat, and similar to his belt, the hat band is red, white, and blue with a gold buckle. Attached to his hat are two blue ribbons with a horizontal red and white line on the tip of the ribbons.

On stage he wears the Ra*bits uniform--a blue and white sailor outfit. The collar is blue with a gold stripe and decorated with a blue bow with a white stripe. The bow is accented with a small gold star. The sleeve cuffs are also blue. The shirt is white and has a blue pocket on it, with gold buttons on the front. He wears blue shorts that reach right above his knees, accessorized with a bell on the side with dangling light blue and white ribbons. He also wears high white socks, together with a pair of brown boots with yellow laces and the tops pulled down. The uniform also has a blue beret decorated with a musical note.
Personality
Bright and idealistic, Hajime is a positive individual who tries to see the good in every person and situation he encounters. He is a hard worker, polite to everyone he meets, and always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Although he grew up very poor, he has always been grateful for what he has, treasuring his relationships with his family and friends in particular. He is a humble person who appreciates the simple things in life (such as bread crusts, flowers, and tea), and other characters often comment that it does not take very much to make him happy.
Hajime is kind, gentle, and altruistic, always doing whatever he can to put others at ease. He has been described as having a calming presence, and due to his compassionate and non-judgemental nature, other characters often confide in him with their insecurities that they might otherwise try to hide. Hajime is also an incredibly sensitive person, and in difficult situations he tends to put people’s feelings before any practical considerations. He has a strong dislike of conflict and expresses a genuine desire to get along with everyone, something that fortunately comes easily to him due to his friendly and considerate personality.
Although Hajime’s motivations for helping people are largely selfless, he also has a personal desire to be seen as a good person. As someone who thrives on positive feedback, he always wants to feel like he is appreciated and actively looks for ways to be praised more. He is grateful for all the support he receives from his friends, family, and fans, and his main reason for working hard both as a person and as an idol is so that he can repay their love.
Despite his usual positive attitude, Hajime quickly becomes shy and nervous around people he's unfamiliar with, often citing his social anxiety as the cause of this. He can get very anxious in stressful situations, panicking and sometimes even fainting from shock. To help combat his anxiety, Hajime always carries around aromatic lavender sachets as he finds their scent calming. This is not without its own problems, however - Tomoya has mentioned that the way Hajime is always sniffing at his lavender sachets may come off as strange. This is not the only slightly eccentric aspect of Hajime’s personality; he is known to be somewhat scatterbrained and is prone to daydreaming, sometimes getting caught up and carried away with his own fantasies. Hajime is also a highly emotional person and has been described as a “crybaby,” getting tearful not only when he's upset or scared, but also when he's happy.
While Hajime is a very loving person, he has an unspoken expectation of others to show him the same love in return. He has a habit of getting extremely emotionally attached to anybody who treats him with kindness, sometimes to an almost unhealthy degree. He can be clingy and even possessive of his family and close friends, becoming jealous if he feels they are growing distant from him or are going to abandon him for somebody else. This part of his personality is something that Hajime is ashamed of, having struggled with it from a young age, and something he usually tries to keep to himself, although his true feelings have slipped out on occasion.
Hajime has a tendency to repress his own negative thoughts and feelings, trying his best to present himself as a virtuous person who never causes trouble for others. As such, he has gained a reputation as a perfectly angelic “good boy,” something that he is both grateful for and uncomfortable with. Despite being happy that others hold him in such high regard, Hajime is well aware of his own flaws, knowing that hiding them from the rest of the world is both dishonest and unhealthy. He acknowledges that there is a disconnect between his image and the person he really is, and hopes that he can be more true to himself someday.
Etymology
In Hajime's last name, the character for "Shi" (紫) means "purple," as well as a plant whose scientific name is Lithospermum erythrorhizon (common name in Japanese: murasaki) and which produces purple blossoms. This may be connected to his eye color, his penchant for lavender aromatic pouches, as well as his predilection for taking care of flowers.

Hajime's family consists of his parents, younger brother, and younger sister. They are extremely poor, but appear to be a very close-knit, loving, and supportive family. Hajime often states that he loves his family very much and is grateful to be a part of it. One of the reasons he wishes to be successful as an idol is so that his family can have a more comfortable life.
Hajime is very close to his family, and they are the only people he speaks to in a casual way. He dislikes the fact that he is starting to feel distant from them since moving to Starmony Dorm, and tries to keep in contact with them as much as he can.
Trivia
- Due to Ra*bits' policy Hajime cannot cut his hair.[4][5] This is likely due to Ra*bits wanting to pertain to a cute image.[6][7]
- He felt uncomfortable with his longer hair for a period of time, as he felt like he was becoming less of who he used to be. However, he's grown to like it over time, and now would not choose to cut it if given the option.[8]
- Hajime had a crew cut in the past, the cut being his go-to it was more economical and easier to care for.[8]
- Hajime describes his family as "surprisingly tall".[9]
- He used to play sports, specifically ball games.[10]
- He knows how to play the flute, although he can only play simple songs. [11]
- He gets car sick.[12]
- He has a surprisingly high level of physical strength and was able to beat Keito at arm wrestling.[13] It has also been implied that he has beaten Eichi too.[14]
- He enjoys doing laundry and has a reputation for being good at it, so he often gets requests to do laundry jobs.[15]
- He's very friendly with both Eichi Tenshouin and Ibara Saegusa, making him on good terms with a lot of higher-ups in ES.[16]
- Sora described his color as "The color of water with flower petals floating on it[17]".
- He has basic sewing skills and has previously made simple alterations to Ra*bits' unit outfit to advertise for both the Sakura Festival and a store selling a panda-themed cake.[18][19] He has also helped the handicrafts club with sewing outfits for the Star Festival.[20]
- His player name in the mobile game RoseKnights is "blue_rabbit".[21]
- He created a new blend of tea as part of an activity with FLAVOR. This blend was then added to Cafe Cinnamon's official menu by Eichi, under the name "Shinonon Blend."[22]
- Hajime is greatly favored by Bishoujo Senpai, who wants Hajime to become their successor. While Hajime turned them down so he could focus his attention towards Ra*bits, Bishoujo Senpai hopes that through time Hajime will change his mind through their work together.
- He is "secretly" the pretty girl virtual idol "S1-NON" after Bishoujo Senpai asked him to sing and dance in a motion-capture suit and uploaded his performance on the internet using a female 3D avatar without his permission. S1-NON gained popularity the internet as a result of fans conspiring if this mysterious virtual idol will be Bishoujo Senpai's successor.[23]
- Sora Harukawa and Natsume Sakasaki both have figured S1-NON's true identity out, to which Hajime begged them to not tell anyone.

As you can probably guess from his appearance, he seems to lead the kind of hard-pressed life where he can't help but worry incessantly about things like limited-time sales at the grocery store. I really hope for him to be happy! His flaws seem to be 'carelessness' and 'social anxiety,' which are the same as mine, so I do feel a lot of affinity with him.
