I'm Subaru Akehoshi! I'm a member of Trickstar, which works under STARMAKER PRODUCTION... StarPro! ☆ We're a unit formed at Yumenosaki Academy, and since we're all the same age, we get along like friends! Although being so close often causes disagreements, I think it's very important to have companions who you can talk openly to. That way, we can work hard and do our very best every day together! I know with this power we can make you smile too, so please support us, 'kay?[2]
HokutoTrickstar, the unit I belong to, is known for it's unity, but of us, Akehoshi is a member with a strong sense of camaraderie. Although we're often at the mercy of his outlandish behavior, Akehoshi genuinely believes in his friends more than anyone else and aspires to become a sparkling idol. I'm the type of person to simply and straightforwardly accumulate training, but Akehoshi's instinctive sensibility is something I should learn from. However, being different types also means we can engage in friendly rivalry. I don't think there's anyone more dependable to climb up the idol industry alongside.[2]
Ensemble Stars! Introduction
A hardworking mood-maker who thinks of everything in a positive light, Subaru's always on the go, never settling down. He likes money (not in a materialistic way; he just likes shiny things and loves coins regardless of the value).
He's often with his classmates Hokuto Hidaka and Makoto Yuuki. Together with class B's Mao Isara, the four of them form the unit Trickstar, and they all get along well. Subaru owns a shiba named Daikichi.
Appearance[]
Subaru is of average height and has bright blue eyes. His hair is a vibrant orange, short, and tousled.
On stage, Subaru wears Trickstar's uniform, which includes a red plaid jacket worn over a white shirt and black pants. The jacket’s sleeves are rolled up to three-quarter length, revealing black cuffs with a golden stripe. The lapels as well as the collar and shoulders of the jacket are black, detailed with golden trimming on the edges. Golden tassels fall from his right shoulder. On his left, golden bands connect his shoulder to a four-pointed star on his lapel. He wears an orange belt, with the end of it falling over as it has not been properly tucked into a belt loop. A red bandana hangs from his belt and drapes down at his right side. It has a black stripe along the bottom and is dotted with tiny silver sparkles. Over that, a golden beaded chain rests on his hips. An outlined star design is attached to the chain as it hangs on his right side. A thick red stripe runs along the sides of his pant legs, with the ends being cropped right above his ankles. His sneakers are black and grey with red detailing, including a Velcro strap over his orange laces. Subaru wears a black fingerless glove on his left hand and orange and white bangles on his left. He also wears a gold necklace of a four-pointed star— a reference to the four members of Trickstar.
On warmer days, his casual outfit consists of a larger T-shirt layered over a more fitted grey T-shirt. The shoulders of his over-shirt are black, extending down the outer side of his short sleeves. The inner side of his sleeves, as well as his chest area, are white. The bottom two-thirds of the shirt are red. On the bottom corner of the white segment of his shirt are two small embroidered black stars. Subaru’s over-shirt is messily ridden up on the right side, revealing the grey T-shirt beneath it. The end of a black belt with a thick red stripe down the center can be seen draped down from beneath the left side of his shirt, as it has not been properly tucked into a belt loop. Subaru wears wide-leg light-washed jeans. There is a small rip near his right hip, as well as a thin one over each of his knees. His jeans are rolled up to just above his ankles. His sneakers are white and detailed with diagonal orange and black stripes on the sides. Subaru wears this with white ankle socks.
On colder days, his casual outfit consists of a white sweatshirt layered over an orange shirt. The sweatshirt has a small black rectangle on the upper center of his chest. Over this, he wears a beige jacket with light brown accents and orange trimmings. Subaru’s jacket has deep-green puffy features on the torso, extending until the pockets at the bottom of the jacket. The end of a light brown belt can be seen draped down from beneath the left side of his shirt, as it has not been properly tucked into a belt loop. He wears this with dark brown pants
Ensemble Stars! Appearance
Subaru is of average height and has bright blue eyes. His hair is a vibrant orange, short, and tousled.
He wears the school uniform with an untucked white shirt whose top button is left open and a blue tie. He also wears a peach colored hoodie with grey lining that is zipped both halfway down and halfway up, leaving the bottom slightly open. He wears the school's blazer over this. His yellow sneakers have white laces and a blue star symbol inside a white circle on the outside.
On stage, Subaru wears Trickstar's uniform, which includes a red plaid jacket worn over a white V-neck shirt and matching red plaid pants. The jacket’s sleeves are rolled up to his elbows, revealing white cuffs. The lapels as well as the sides and shoulders of the jacket are black, detailed with four tiny golden stars on the edge of the left lapel and golden trimming on the shoulders. He wears an orange strap with a white stripe attached to the left side of his orange belt. A black bandana is tied around his waist and drapes down at his right side. It has a white stripe along the bottom and is dotted with tiny silver sparkles. Over that, multiple thin golden bands rest on his hips, one which has an outlined star design attached to the right side. The right leg of his pants is rolled up to just below the knee, revealing a white cuff similar to his jacket. He wears orange high-top sneakers with white laces. The outside of the shoes features a star motif with the name "Trickstar" embroidered underneath it. He wears a black fingerless glove on his right hand and an orange wristband on his left. Subaru also wears a gold necklace featuring an abstract design which may be interpreted as a combination of the letters "T" and "S" (from Trickstar), with a star cut out in the middle.
Personality[]
Subaru is very optimistic and uplifting to those around him. When he meets someone, he warmly welcomes and greets them. He personally likes to please everyone, making everyone happy, and is very fond of eating. He also respects his father and mother very much. After his father passed away, he wholeheartedly wanted to become a great star so that his father’s reputation could be spread far and wide. He also hopes that his mother can live a good life in this way.
Despite coming across as somewhat simple-minded, Subaru is actually shown to be very observant and intelligent, something that often surprises people who are just realizing this about him for the first time. He pays a strong attention to detail and is ranked highly in terms of grades for his year. He may be a natural genius who can excel at anything, even when he's attempting it for the first time, but he never slacks off and always puts his whole heart into working hard to achieve his goals. That's one of the reasons he was so depressed during his first year at Yumenosaki, as many of his classmates shunned him for trying too hard, and Subaru let his frustration at their complacency spill over. He considers it a really dark time in his life, and it's why he's so grateful to his friends in Trickstar for bringing him out of that.
Subaru is a very affectionate person, constantly throwing his arms around his friends and being lightheartedly scolded by Mao for almost knocking him over on several occasions. However, despite how quick he is to physical affection, Subaru would never initiate it with someone who's genuinely uncomfortable, which is why his relationships with Chiaki and Arashi are initially very tense, as their unintentional disregard for his discomfort puts him on edge.
Overall, Subaru is a very warm, kind-hearted person who, above all else, just wants to be a great idol with his friends and make as many people smile as possible, like his late father had.
Etymology[]
Subaru's first name means "the Pleiades," and has a second meaning of 'unite', while his last name literally means "morning star." His name seems is likely connected to his love for shiny things, as well as having a connection with the fact that he's a member of Trickstar.
Additionally, the "evening star" reference in his title is the same as the "morning star", both of which correspond to Venus. A part of the character for "hoshi" (星, meaning "star") in his last name is rendered as a star in his autograph.

Subaru is an only child, and lives with his mother. His father passed away when he was young. Similar to Hokuto his father also used to be an idol. He has a pet dog named Daikichi who he's had since he was very young.
Trivia[]
- Subaru's autograph consists of his full name, rendered in both kanji and katakana.
- He likes to nickname other students, but he doesn't like being called by any nicknames.
- He is touchy-feely, but he doesn't seem to really like physical interaction from others.

- He poses like Go-On Silver, a character from the tokusatsu show Engine Sentai Go-Onger, during a DREAM LIVE MC section with RYUSEITAI. [4] His love for sparkling things fits Go-On Silver's roll call, which is "Sparkling world! Go-On Silver!"
