Members are now participating media activities to raise the popularity of the unit, including guests in talk shows and radio programs, assistants in musical programs, fashion models, etc. Team color is turquoise.

Etymology

The name ALKALOID comes from a chemistry term that describes a type of compound found in nature. Some alkaloid compounds are toxic and used in poisons, while others are used in medicine. This reflects the unit's potential to grow or fail at the beginning of the main story.

Logo

The logo of ALKALOID is placed in all capital letters, the first letter of A being the only one in cursive and a separate outline than the following letters. The A is a gradient of gold, the top being lighter than the bottom, the triangular gap in the A being black, the same color of the letter's outline. The '-LKALOID' is all the same font, and the primary color used is a deeply saturated—nearly black— version of the unit's color, which is the secondary color in the logo. The L, A, L, O, and I are all that same color with a small outline of white towards the edge of the letter, but not the full outline. The space within the O is replaced with a gold lock, the unit's symbol. The K and D have an intersecting line meeting at a 90 degree angle and leaving the top half (K) and bottom half (D) of the letter the unit's color a turquoise. The K has a gold line in between the navy and turquoise, while the D does not. There are two thin, black lines placed closely underneath the unit name branched off of the outline of the A, the second line being cut off before small card suits are lined up in the order: Spade, Heart, Club, Diamond (Hiiro Amagi, Aira Shiratori, Mayoi Ayase, Tatsumi Kazehaya) and alternating in the pattern of navy (Spade, Club) and turquoise (Heart, Diamond).

History

ALKALOID has no prior known affiliation together before they were named a unit under Ensemble Square, though Tatsumi had worked in idol activity before joining the production, he went under a hiatus for a while before the unit formed. They met during the start of summer break during the beginning of the main story and were in a dorm together until placed in the Starmony Dorms alongside the other idols of Ensemble Square.

Trivia

• ALKALOID was first added during the release of Ensemble Stars!! along with the unit Crazy:B.
• As a parallel to Crazy:B, ALKALOID was formed to be "a poison that counteracts another poison", as well as the "cure" to the discourse that was taking place during the MDM, referencing the unit's namesake.
